Khabarovsk war crimes trials

In December 1949, the Soviets tried 12 Unit 731 officers in Khabarovsk and convicted them all — but the West dismissed the verdicts as propaganda. The transcripts vanished from Western consciousness for 40 years.

While Unit 731 experimented on humans, Unit 100 infected horses, cattle, and water supplies with anthrax, glanders, and sheep-pox — then measured how fast an army without animals collapses.

Pingfang was a self-contained city — barracks, airstrip, crematorium, and 150 buildings — built by 15,000 conscripted Chinese laborers, most of whom were executed afterward to preserve secrecy.
